I would hope that we would assume at this point that nothing lasts forever. Not even our atmosphere is going to be sitting around until the end of time. With the atmosphere gone then well, there goes us, too. It turns out that anyone who fears this scenario has a semi-rational fear since we are losing atmosphere all the time, but total depletion won’t happen in our lifetime. ”Our”, meaning, the human race.
MinuteEarth explains that the process is very slow and chances are we’ll be long gone before its ever complete. One day a distant traveler will look at our planet and wonder, was there ever life there?

Bearded men can sing and they can sing damn well. At least this guy can. Perhaps I’m swayed by the source material, but regardless, it’s fantastic.

io9 shared this wonderful video of kids trying different foods for the first time. The catch is that it’s in slow-motion. There’s no way you can come up with anything cuter than this.
It’s brought to you by Saatchi & Saatchi and Heckler for TEDxSydney.

High speed cameras really offer scientists the opportunity to really observe their craft in more detail than ever before. Lightning is a perfect example of something that really requires this type of technology to really observe every little bit of activity involved in the natural phenomenon. Lightning is so fast that when you capture it in front of an american flag, the flag seems to stop while the lightning seemingly strikes at full speed.
The video shows you what it’s like to see lightning at 11,000 frames per second and it’s quite a show! Lightning physicist Vladislav Mazur and meteorologist Tom Warner takes us through a lightning strike from start to finish seen in more detail than ever before.

Parents are already in trouble when it comes to SkyLanders, but now that Disney Infinity is showing itself it’s easy to see that parents have even more to fear. The latest trailer for Disney Infinity shows Davey Jones and Captain Jack Sparrow in toy-like action.
Polygon states:
Though most of the hype for Infinity thus far has revolved around its free-form build-a-game Toy Box mode, it will also include pre-created worlds and sets based on Disney’s characters and stories. This trailer focuses on the play set based on the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, with roguish pirate Jack Sparrow and eldritch underwater abomination Davey Jones in a swashbuckling duel. Players ought to beware the giant kraken.
Disney Infinity hits most major platforms in August

We’re really started to get robots to do some crazy things. This one, HRex, has 6 legs and is able to jump upwards and across. It’s pretty impressive and kind of beautiful to watch. You can see at one point in the video it is able to grab a ledge and pull itself up. This is possible due to it’s unique design brought to us by the University of Pennsylvania. The design also allows for it to right itself if it gets flipped.

Ever wonder what mario and Metal Slug would look like combined? Wonder no more.
This video comes to us from GameBill Studio, who combined assets from Mario and the classic Neo-Geo series Metal Slug as well as some other classic games, to come up with Super Mario Slug X.
A buddy and I at the work would spend countless lunch breaks playing Metal Slug on our Neo-Geo machine. This would take up way too much more of our time.

If you didn’t catch Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, then you shoudl probably watch this video. You should really watch it either way since it contains amazing video of a Sand Storm coming in over Dubai from a view currently unmatched.
Gizmodo’s Description:
Dubai-based Photographer Gerald Donovan went to the top of the tallest skyscraper in the world—the 2,722-foot tall Burj Khalifa—just in time to watch a sand storm engulfing the city. It wasn’t a pleasant experience, but he captured it on this video.
